How to return without a receipt: store by store

Lost the receipt? Most stores can still help, but you often get store credit instead of cash, at the item’s lowest recent price, and you may need a photo ID. Here is what each store’s own policy says.

Academy Sports + Outdoors

With proof of purchase (order number, confirmation email, receipt, packing slip or return barcode) the refund goes back to your original payment for most purchases. • Bring the card you paid with: several stores can look up the purchase from it.
• Search your email for the order confirmation. Online order emails usually count as proof of purchase.
• Bring a government photo ID. No-receipt returns often need one, and stores may limit how many you can make.
• Expect store credit or a gift card, not cash, and possibly at the lowest recent sale price.
